Is a Netbook Good for you?

Netbooks have changed the way we use computers. Laptops which miniaturized computers allowing us to carry our computer along with us anywhere we went.  Desktops bought computers inside our homes and laptops took our computers outdoors. Laptops gave us freedom from wires; we could use the laptop on battery charge without the need to plug it into a wall socket at all times. It also allowed us to connect to the internet without a network cable, which meant totally freedom from wires. Laptops have built in WIFI adaptor which allows them to connect to internet wirelessly within range of a WIFI router.

The netbook computer built on all these breakthroughs made possible by the laptop and improved each one of them. Netbook computer is effectively a smaller and lighter version of the laptop. These notebooks come in screen size between 7 and 10 inches. Notebooks were launched in the market to fulfill the need for a smaller and lighter weight laptop.

The conventional laptop has a screen size ranging from 13 to 20 inches. These laptops are also quite heavy with each one weighing about 1.5 to 2 kilograms. It becomes difficult for a user to carry it around with them. Most full size laptops have replaced desktops however you see very few of them being used outdoors anymore unless you don’t mind carrying your laptop carry bag along with you.

The netbook as name suggests was built for computer users who wished to use their computer predominantly to connect to the internet. As the netbook is smaller and lighter consumers could carry them along with them anywhere they went without the need of a carry bag. They can hold it in their hand and women can slip the netbook in their clutch or hand bag. 

The netbook has a lite version of the operating system and also allows the user to connect to the internet without the need to boot up the operating system. You can open a netbook and connect to the internet using proprietary software provided by different manufacturers. Each manufacturer has different software that allows you to connect to the internet.

The netbook also has advanced internet access technologies such as WIFI, 3G and mobile broadband access. This helps you connect to the internet while on the move without the need to find a WIFI hotspot. 

Netbooks are very popular with the new generation as it provides them with means to connect to the internet and is also affordable when compared to a full sized laptop.
